Hi! My name is Addie, and I’m from Athens, Georgia. I’m currently a freshman at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I love dogs, theater, books, music, and I freaking love my friends and my family. I made this website because my first semester of college was half spectacular, and half living hell. I’ve never been one to write a lot, but I share my feelings like a boss, so here is it. It’s kind of a survival guide to college, kind of a journal, kind of tips to get through homesickness, and also some stuff about my own issues and how I got through it. So thank you, I hope you like it, and that it helps you or someone you know.

This blog is so courageous of you! I found it through the Washington Post article. From your writing it looks like you practice mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy skills daily. Good for you! I’m also just learning how to live and cope with anxiety. Mine is related to bipolar II disorder. I welcome you to read my blog at http://www.mentalhealthadvocateblog.wordpress.com

    Hi Addie,
I was just introduced to your blog site by a dear friend, Hilary Spector, who is the mother of one of your Dickinson friends 🙂 Hilary knew that I would be interested in your blogs as a therapist and teen life coach for girls. I also work with many college age girls, and recently created a virtual community for h.s. and college age girls to connect in a more authentic way. As part of this initiative, I also created a blog site for girls to share their blogs, which “lives” on my willseyconnections website under blogs. I would be so thrilled if you would consider sharing your blog posts with our community, as they are so powerful and inspirational, and will inevitably be very helpful to many others.
Please let me know if you would be amenable to this, and I wish you the best this semester as you head into the home stretch of your freshman year!

I found your blog randomly online when researching about anxiety. I’m a freshman in college and live a 10 hour drive to home. I’ve had the most life changing semester – both enlightening and incredibly challenging. I’ve experienced my anxiety like I never thought I could have. I’ve come back spring semester and am anxious but doing better with my medication. I’ve come to terms that I can’t completely get rid of the anxiety, but I can manage it. Your blog definitely helps me understand that I’m not the only one out there, especially in college, dealing with crippling anxiety. What you write in your blog, I can 100% relate to. Thank you so much for writing about your experience!! I hope to write my own blog soon to help out people like you helped me.
